Total like-for-like sales across the three categories BDO monitors – fashion, lifestyle and homeware – jumped 483.1%, compared to the same period in 2020. The results were slightly distorted because of the comparison with the equivalent week in 2020, which covered the UK’s first week in lockdown.
In-store like-for-like sales rocketed 25.57% year on year, while non-store like-for-like sales rose by 70.68%, compared to the same week in 2020.
Meanwhile, overall footfall jumped 158.3% in the week, against the same period last year.
Retail parks continued to perform well, with footfall increasing by 174.9% compared to the equivalent week in 2020. High street footfall increased by 164.5%, and in shopping centres footfall rose 130.2% on the previous year.
