A good friend asked me an interesting question the other day: How can a company in the covid19 pandemic stand out in today’s market? Too much content on the web, too much webinar running?

It was interesting to me because I have mentioned this part of over communication in a previous post ,in my various meetings and groups whether they’re start-ups or established firms looking for their next areas of growth, I have raise this challenge where business need to focus on the added value they bring to their customer and not overwhelm their audience with generic content

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed everything we know about marketing, whether you stand in the B2B or B2C, your challenge will depend on your industry, your products or services, but it’s a global phenomenon that we are all experiencing in this worldwide crisis .

Marekterrs and business people need to focus on key area to ensure of the impact on the ground and create revenues, this time the concept of customer centric play a central role more than ever , so if your business is not there yet , it is time to do it now because consumers have transformed in the last 6months dramatically which equivalent to 3 years of slow shift !

The new normal is here and we need to work :

1.      Consumer empathy more than ever, consumers want to be heard and understood and Empathy must be a part of marketing strategies moving forward. Customers are careful in their spending because they fear tomorrow which lead them to want to hear about sales and discounts right now. Many are looking to connect with businesses whose brand messages are :

A/Comforting and reassuring

B/Educational and informative

C/Trustworthy and transparent

D/Optimistic and hopeful.

2.      Adapt business model to align with changing consumer behaviour; as mentioned earlier, consumers have changed and your services or products need to align to the current needs, review your offer and pricing to meet their needs. Consumers are looking for shopping solutions that are convenient and safe. This means they are shopping online more. People have changed their routines and are looking for options that allow them to shop in less crowded spaces with value and prices adapted to their new needs and situation as many will remove many items for now as they are not necessity in their basket, so you need to position your products and service as valued and needed ones .

3.      3. Shoppable social

Since everyone began practising social distancing everywhere, social media platforms has seen a surge in their traffic and especially Instagram & Facebook where it has been buzzing with new trends like Dalgona coffee, fitness videos and much more, if you work for a small & medium business you should strongly think of this approach to make your business digital street visible !

You will need to consider creating shoppable posts to meet people where they are and create an interest for them to buy from you .
