Marketing Communications College Internship
Bowen McCauley Dance Company, was founded in 1996 by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Lucy Bowen McCauley as a nonprofit 501(c)3 registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The organization’s office is located in Arlington and the professional dance company has been in residence for 23 years at the Maryland Youth Ballet in Silver Spring, MD. The company employs 8-10 professional dancers, three full-time staff and 20 part-time consultants that include Teaching Artists, support staff and Tech crewmembers. In Spring 2018, the dance company launched a rebranding campaign that encompassed a new logo and website. We added back the word “Company” to Bowen McCauley Dance. We are currently preparing for Season 24, which will include two self-produced productions at Dance Place (Fall) and the Kennedy Center (Spring). There are opportunities to pursue paid part-time employment as a member of our Marketing Communications team for Spring 2020.
Job Responsibilities
Performance Season
· Craft 24th Season marketing communications plan to advance the Company’s three self-produced productions, presented performances and special events.
· Write various communications materials for print and digital distribution platforms.
· Participate in the video and photo selection process evaluating based on the specific distribution channel lens.
· Upload content descriptions and corresponding images to local Art Partners’ eCalendar platforms and news outlets.
· Engage and respond to inquiries from writers, critics, bloggers and other representatives from the performing arts community.
· Curatorial oversight working with Artistic Director to approve and store Company photos and video assets.
· Track quarterly audience metrics on marketing and communication efforts.

Marketing communications undergraduate student majors are welcomed to apply. The final candidate should be passionate about BMDC’s mission, vision and value statements. This position is located in the company’s Arlington office.
Reports to Executive Director and Marketing Director
Schedule: Monday-Friday, (6-8 hours/per week).
