Behaviours are for learning

I know I have focussed on internal, self-concept in this article. What we can do from an organisational development perspective is provide open, adaptive workplaces, self-supporting and cross functional teams, coach leaders and managers to be coaches, and implement socially purposeful strategies that will add meaning to relationships.

Are you in the habit of defining yourself as introvert or extrovert, this personality or that? Do you realise your predetermined judgements, self-image or beliefs may be limiting your growth (fixed mindset)?

One of my biggest gifts in life was being diagnosed as a social phobic and realising being deeply introverted was not serving me. Prior to this I had struggled to understand who I really was. This self-awareness allowed me to constructively set about changing my behaviours, opening my mind to learning new behaviours, and achieving an adaptive personality, and system mindset (ENFP). The natural, creative, social leadership qualities of this personality provide the courage, conviction, and compassion to challenge and speak out about the need to open mindsets and promote the behaviours of transformational leadership.

Will provides insights to the leadership social change and open mindset of the ENFP personailty
Remarkably, we are provided the leadership skills to resolve imbalances or what might have been missing or occupied our minds as children, once we turn our lives around. Whether you don’t like brussels sprouts or meditation, try to understand the basis of what might be your limiting beliefs. Whether they emerged during childhood and are still factual or even naïve, and whether they are serving you in adulthood?[1] Understand and name what emotions underlie these dislikes by identifying where they came from, write them down. Over time your developing self-awareness will help to resolve any negativity, limiting beliefs and self-doubts as you begin to become ever more present, positive, in the moment and trusting of who you are.

Understanding your core beliefs, values, coping mechanisms, fears and insecurities actually help to identify who you are, define your life skills and are usually confined to your comfort zone. Once you identify what might be holding you back, you begin to appreciate your passion and purpose, what you really care about, so you can live more authentically, and objectively with one eye to the future.

Trust is built over extended periods and is naturally enhanced through face to face social connections to become truly instinctive. The value of trust is expressed in who we are as an authentic person.

We live in a world where few people represent that personalities can change considerably over a lifetime and learning self-awareness and different behaviours are how we develop adaptive, resilient, open minds. And trust in others and social connection is how we also learn these adaptive techniques. Behaviours are for learning and we are unlikely to challenge them in the comfort of our homes and if we don’t learn to trust in who we are.
